Ambassador Majintha Jayesinghe presented a commemorative plaque to HE Siddharth Chatterjee, the UN Resident Coordinator in China, in recognition of the UN General Assembly Resolution initiated in 1999 by the late Hon. Lakshman Kadirgamar, then Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, calling upon the United Nations to declare Vesak as an international holiday.
