The Government of Sri Lanka is introducing a free visa regime for the nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan with immediate effect, until 31st March 2024.

Under this scheme, nationals of the above countries will be able to enjoy a 30-day free visa period with double entry to Sri Lanka.

The above nominated nationals should apply for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arriving in Sri Lanka.

This free visa regime is introduced as a pilot program to facilitate tourism arrivals and to strengthen the tourism industry of Sri Lanka.

This newly introduced free visa regime will be particularly attractive to the tourists during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays and the Chinese Luna New Year period.

Prospective Chinese visitors and that of other countries mentioned above, may contact the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing or the Consulates General of Shanghai and Guangzhou for any clarification needed.
