H. E. the Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona Discusses Expanding Cooperation in Rubber Industries, Marinas and Student Exchanges

Ambassador Dr. Palitha Kohona held a meeting with Mr. Kaushal Rajapakse at the Embassy on 18.05.2023.

Mr. Rajapakse, who is the Chairman of the Polymer Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Industries and holding key positions in private companies, recently visited to China participate in the 13th China (Guangrao) International Rubber Tire & Auto Accessory Exhibition. Following the conclusion of the Exhibition he visited the Embassy to debrief us and seek future assistance.

The focal point of the discussion revolved around fostering collaboration between China and Sri Lanka to drive industrial development within Sri Lanka, especially in rubber products. Mr. Rajapakse also emphasized the importance of educational cooperation, specifically in the field of chemical and rubber technology, to facilitate knowledge transfer and to empower Sri Lankan students in these fields. Ambassador Kohona echoed this sentiment, also underlining the significance of exploring opportunities to attract Chinese students to Sri Lanka, thereby contributing to the cultural and economic recovery of the county. Ambassador Kohona committed the Embassy to assist Mr. Rajapakse and other Sri Lankan enterprises in every way possible.

Mr. Rajapakse was strongly supportive of the establishment of marinas in Sri Lanka to cater to the growing yachting industry.
